North Shore

About North Shore

Oahu’s North Shore is relatively quiet in contrast to other parts of the island. The North Shore region stretches between Ka’ena Point and Laie along the island’s north-facing coast and is known for its massive waves attracting surfers from around the world. Some of the most notable surfing spots in this area are Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach, and Banzai Pipeline.

Embracing the Hawaii of yesteryear, there are no shopping malls or high-rise buildings. The modest amount of development is centered in Haleiwa, where restaurants, local surf shops and art galleries welcome patrons with a relaxed vibe. A leisurely drive through the area meanders along two-lane roads surrounded by a rural ambience reminiscent of old Hawaii’s plantation era. North Shore real estate varies between quaint beach cottages, semi-rural properties equipped to share with horses and chickens, and magnificent oceanfront estates. Living on the North Shore is a throwback to old Hawaii where the lands and lifestyle are protected by residents determined to “Keep the Country Country”.
